Special Father's Day Gift Baskets That Rock

By Giselle Taylor

I don't know about you but I have such a great dad I want to give him something from my heart this year-- like fun and thoughtful Father's Day gift baskets he will love. When else do I get the chance to show him how much I appreciate him being there for me all throughout my life anytime I needed him - or didn't need him or so I thought. He's a special man and more than worthy to be celebrated.

Personally, I find that gift giving offers one great advantage - it allows you to make the recipient try something he wouldn't necessarily like doing. If you prepare beautifully done and sweetly given healthy gift baskets, your dad will have no choice but to partake of it. It sounds a little scheming, but having a healthy dad is worth whatever it takes. You can give him some of those delicious fresh fruit baskets to take the place of the greasy bacon and fries he usually consumes.

Ok, maybe fresh fruit gift baskets are pushing it. You can still do something about it. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and dads are no different. Put together a care package of whole wheat bread, some pieces of fruit (not a whole basket anymore), tasty broiled chicken or fish, and a couple of his favorite beer brand. Then go out and have a nice picnic lunch, just the both of you. Now that's definitely something he would appreciate.

What does your dad like doing in his spare time? Is it playing golf? A new set of clubs might be a little too expensive but it still shouldn't be too difficult to work around this particular hobby. Find yourself an attractive little tote and place golf things inside - don't stop with the golf printed t-shirt, the sillier the better. Have a caricature of him made swinging a club and have this made into a personalized wall clock. Or if that's not readily available, buy custom made little muffins and cookies that are made to look like golf balls.

Let me tell you something else you already know, the cost of the gift is not parallel to the love you have for the recipient. More so if the people you are giving to are your parent's right? That being said, it gives us no license to not make an effort in giving the best that we can give. If this means a DIY gift basket, so be it - it will be more valuable that way.

Is your dad a fan of a particular sound? Put together a collection of songs and bands that play his genre of music. If he is a movie guy, then download his favorite movies and videos if possible. How about giving him a bouquet of sweet smelling corndogs dressed in mustard. Use your imagination, a good laugh is a great gift to give.

Now here's a day you can have an excuse to treat your dad like the superman that he is. He guides and he provides; he leads and he feeds - it's time for him to be treated royally. Give him lovingly made Father's Day gift baskets and make his year a great one.
